If there is one organisation that every UK street food trader should be a member of, it is NCASS — the National Caterers Association.

Industry Data: NCASS membership provides: a complete food safety management system compliant with HACCP requirements; a compliance manual covering all legal obligations; public liability insurance; temperature logging tools; allergen management support; training resources; and access to a community of fellow traders. Annual membership costs approximately £200–300 — significantly less than the cost of assembling these resources independently.

Most professional event organisers and agencies require NCASS membership or equivalent as a condition of trader acceptance. Without it, you will be excluded from the most lucrative events. With it, you can demonstrate to any organiser or Environmental Health Officer that your business operates to the highest standards.

NCASS is also a community. The forum, the events, and the network of fellow traders are genuinely valuable — particularly for new traders who are navigating the industry alone.
